Sun seducing me to wake.
a poem from the rocks.

poem written in the heat of an April day, with the sea creeping ever closer.
How many more voices
Lost to the wind that blows
Land empty– but there was a time
Where life flourished— we who once
Asked the earth
What did she really want
How many more voices lost to the wind
That blows echoing across
A fertile barren land
Scars dig deep into flesh
It too once believed in salvation
How many more lost voices will the
Land have to sweep from its surface
Before they are even given the
Chance to be heard;
What if we are all poets
Condemned to whisper
Our own desires into the dirt
For it is the only thing that will
Still listen and then still promise
To hold us.
